“A Beautiful Step Forward: Wedding Shoe Portraits” is my latest Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival exhibit. Sexy or modest, sometimes chosen with a theme in mind, and occasionally outlandish, wedding shoes are the exclamation point in a well-crafted statement of style and individuality.

As a photographer for The Bata Shoe Museum, I have photographed many of the museum’s historical collections. Now, in “A Beautiful Step Forward: Wedding Shoe Portraits”, I look at the significance of wedding shoes in contemporary culture. My portraits of wedding shoes are about love and friendship, old customs and new ones, and, of course, beauty.
