Lucky us. We had a lot of fun photographing an urban wedding that took place at a restaurant on Mount Pleasant Road.
We love Toronto – every square inch of its urban character, from its wonky hydro poles through to the jumble of overhead street car wires! As Toronto wedding photographers we have come to know just about every community neighbourhood in the city, from east to west, north to south.
One of our favourites is Mount Pleasant Road which is a busy north south street that feeds traffic onto Jarvis Street south of Bloor Street. The section south of Eglinton Avenue is a true neighbourhood hub. It has two old time movie theatres – the Regent Theatre and the Mount Pleasant Theatre. The street also has a great selection of restaurants and pubs to choose from. Sadly, the long-time family owned Penrose Fish and Chips has closed.
Diana and Matt had their wedding service and reception at the stylish and trendy Celestin Restaurant, a french restaurant located in a former bank. A great location for an urban wedding! Of course, we took lots of photographs inside and outside. And, as it turns out, the billboard opposite the restaurant advertised travelling to New Brunswick. And since the groom and his family were from that province, we were asked to take shots with the billboard in the background. What a great unexpected moment!
